Martha Ainer Maples, 90, of Sevierville passed away Thursday, February 20, 2003 at Morristown Hamblin Hospital.
Ainer was of the Baptist faith. She was also a weaver for the Arrowmont School of Crafts for over 30 years. She was also a well-known pastry cook in the Gatlinburg area for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Hamilton Maples; parents, Matt and Mary L. McCarter Ownby; brothers, Lewis and Homer Ownby, sisters, Pearl Franklin and Rose Grooms.
Ainer is survived by her children, Ben Maples and wife Susie, Georgia Parton and husband Jack, Kathryn Russell and husband Arnold all of Sevierville; grandchildren, Tony Parton and wife Tanya, Lisa Gibson and husband Dallas, Mary "Sissy" Goodwon, Anna Hudson, Patty Acosta and husband Thomas, Elizabeth Heasley, Alise Walker and husband Jimmy, LeeAnn Walker, Benjamin "Benji" Arrington and wife Becky, Bruce Maples; 12 great grandchildren. Besides the immediate family, Ainer will be missed by special friends Jessie Mize, Wayne Goodwon, Roger Bowers and a host of relatives and friends that had known Ainer during her stay on this earth.
Service will be 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ben Whitted and Rev. Dallas Gibson officiating. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23 at Proffitts Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
