Helen Whitehead, age 96, of New Market, TN passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Jefferson County Nursing Home, Dandridge. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Whitehead; daughter, Linda Gail Whitehead; parents, James and Bertha Pratt Marshall; step-mother, Nettie Pratt Marshall; sisters, Lottie Denniston, Bertha Walker, Juanita Hankins, Irene Marshall and Alma Faye Marshall. She was a member of Jefferson City Church of God and was a former employee of Tennessee Handbags Company. She is survived by sons, Dennis (Diane) Whitehead, and Lawrence (Mary Jane) Whitehead; daughters, Irene (Jack) Walker, Brenda Dockery, Carolyn (David) Purvis, Nancy (Edwin) Kyte; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Nettie Holt and Bille (Joe) Springer; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Larry Dye and Brother Walter Isbill officiating. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Family and friends will gather 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. Family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to: Jefferson City Church of God Building Fund, 711 East Highland Ave., Jefferson City, TN 37760
