Gibson, Mary Sue Reed Archer, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Hillcrest North. Sue was born April 9, 1928 in Athens, Tennessee in the midst of a snowstorm to Bruce and Donnie Belle Reed. She achieved fame as a basketball player at Porter High School and later was honored to be the first female bowler to be televised in Knoxville. Preceded in death by her parents, her sister Louanne Reed Gastineau and her husband Otha A. Gibson, Jr.
Survived by her former husband and father of her son, Don Archer of Louisville, Tennessee. Other survivors are her son Timothy Reed Archer and wife Candace Cowart Archer; grandchildren are Timothy Don (T. D.), Gabriel and wife Kerri, Lucinda, Dane and Chloe Archer.
A memorial graveside service will be 11 am Monday at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Keith Shown officiating. Arrangements by Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Dr. Condolences may be offered at www.lynnhurstchapel.com
