WORCESTER -- Kenneth N. Macomber , 90, of 20 Longmeadow Ave., formerly of Hudson, Concord, N.H., and Exeter, N.H., a former mechanical engineer, died Thursday, Oct. 31, at home after a short illness.
His wife, Doris M. (Williams) Macomber , died in 1980. He leaves two sons, Stuart W. Macomber of Newton and Richard K. Macomber of Marion; a daughter, Nancy M. Gauthier, with whom he lived; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was born in Hudson, son of Frederick E. and Josie (Caldwell) Macomber , and lived most of his life in Hudson. He lived 14 years in New Hampshire before moving to Worcester two years ago. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1930 and received a degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University, Boston.
Mr. Macomber was a mechanical engineer at Lapointe Machine Tool Co., Hudson, for 45 years and traveled extensively for the company. After retiring, he worked 10 years at Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, N.Y., retiring in 1986. He was a member of the American Society of Tool Engineers and the Volvo Club of America.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, in Merrill-Carleton Funeral Home, 1 Pleasant St., Hudson. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours are 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, in the funeral home. Please omit flowers.
