Carl Gates, 77, of Cosby, went to be with the Lord Monday, December 12, 2005, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
Carl is retired from Malone Brothers Construction after 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garfield and Mary Gates; three sisters, Unavee Banks, Dora McGaha, and Arietha Jenkins; four brothers, Bart Gates, Lacy Gates, Ernest Banks, and Frank Banks.
Carl is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eva (Bullington) Gates, of the home; son, Edward Gates, of Newport; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Pat Gates, of Parrottsville; sisters, Grace McGaha, of Hartford, and Beulah and Bob Combs, of Hartford; sisters-in-law, Ailene Wilson, Ellen Lane, Nola Wilson, Carolyn Ball, Louise Banks, and Bedie Banks; brother-in-law, Arthur Bullington; and two special grandchildren, Beth and David Gates.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at Brown Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ransom Hall officiating.
Graveside service will be conducted at Wednesday, December 14, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at Clark Cemetery at Hartford.
Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. Carl Gates.
