Marie Ruth Caylor McClanahan, Maryville, TN, age 98, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, April 27, 2016. She was born in Maryville, TN, August 25, 1917. Marie was employed by KFC for more than 50 years. A banquet was held in her honor to award her for being their longest employed employee and also their oldest. Marie worked for the company until she was 93 years old. She was a lifelong member of West Maryville Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending Rocky Branch Community Center with her friends where she loved listening to bluegrass and gospel music. Marie was full of love, laughter and humor.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie S. McClanahan, parents, Roscoe and Lucy Caylor, brother, Millard Caylor and his wife Eula. She is survived by her children, Mary (Wade) Benson, Patricia (Johnny) McMillan, James (Maxine) McClanahan, Roger (Lisa) McClanahan; grandchildren, Robert Benson, Lee Flynn, Tina Benson, Robin (Michael) Weaver, Johnna McMillan, Tricia (Doug) Mills, James R. McClanahan, Jennifer (Nicoma) Watkins; 13 great grandchildren. And special nieces, Donna (Bob) Duren and Donnie (Ronnie) Inman. Longtime friend, Helen McClanahan. Also, special caregiver, Glenda Hemphill, who provided exceptional and loving care for the past several years.
Family and friends will meet at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville, TN, Saturday, April 30, at 12:00 noon to proceed to Grandview Cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service with Rev. Bill Dixon officiating.
