Funeral services for Mrs. Bobbie J. Etherton Whaley Campbell Gibson, age 75, of Manchester, were conducted Monday afternoon, March 23, 2009 at 1 p.m. with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating services at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family was Monday. Mrs. Gibson passed away Friday, March 20, 2009, at Harton Regional Medical Center.
Bobbie J. Etherton Whaley Campbell Gibson was born August 1, 1933 in Sevierville, TN, to the late Otha Paul and Mildred Huskey Etherton. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church in Manchester. She also enjoyed activities at the Senior Citizen Center. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 1995, Eugene "Hoot" Gibson.
Her survivors include three sons, Jerry Lee (Marina) Whaley of Sevierville, Timothy Paul Whaley of Nashville, Michael David (Friday) Whaley of Manchester; one brother, Jimmy (Wynona) Etherton of Sevierville; one sister, Carolyn (Bob) Ferguson of Knoxville; five grandchildren, John Abraham Whaley, Lee Jonas Whaley, Chizum Paul Whaley, Matthew David Whaley, Joshua Allen Whaley; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, and Kaden Paul Whaley; numerous nieces and nephews; ex daughter-in-law, Paula Whaley; and a special friend, Roxanna Bryant and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1006 Hillsboro Blvd., Manchester, TN 37355.
