Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Thursday at St. Paul AME Church in Alcoa for Lawrence Anthony , 76.
Lawrence grew up in the community, attending public schools, graduating from Hall High School, before serving on active duty in the Air Force.
He may be best known locally for his 20 years of service in the Alcoa Police Department where he served the city and the community well. The highly respected officer was a member of St. Paul AME Church of Alcoa.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Anthony and four sons, Lawrence , Quentin and Eric of Alcoa and Arthur of Frederick, Maryland.
His son Quentin "Bean" has been employed for more than 30 years at The Daily Times where he is an advertising account executive.
The body may be viewed at Foothills Funeral Home until 30 minutes prior to the service when the family will receive friends at the church. Following the service at the church, interment will be held at Tennessee State Veterans' Cemetery in Knoxville with full military honors.
His long record of service to nation and community will not soon be forgotten.
