Ruth Morgan Burchell, age 92, of South Knoxville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, March 30, 2015. Born and raised in the John Sevier Community , she attended Central High School. Ruth was employed as a teletype operator for Western Union and retired after 34 years of service. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church and a member of the Ruth Sunday School class. Ruth loved spending time with her family, especially either in the mountains or at the beach. Even if she could not see her friends often, she especially enjoyed chatting with them on the phone. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Thurl and Dorsie Morgan; brother, Don Ray; sisters, Mildred Rader, Evelyn Morell, Wanda Boone, Jean Livingston; devoted husband of 60 years whom she missed dearly, George W. Burchell, Sr.; daughter, Bobbi Henry. Ruth is survived by son, George "Billy" Burchell, Jr. and his wife, JoAnn; daughter, Pam Rogers and her husband, Ronnie; son-in-law, Guy David Henry; grandchildren, Davey Henry (Michelle), Christy and Ryan Burchell (fiance Kim Bozeman), Morgan and Bryan Rogers; Great grandchildren, Drew (Sam) and Evan Henry; many dearly loved nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to Ruth's caregivers, Norma, Kathy, Jennifer and Ruthie for all of their loving care and devotion. Family will receive friends 5:00 -7:00 PM Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Meridian Baptist Church with a service celebrating her life to follow at 7:00PM. Reverend Dana Fachman will be officiating. Family and friends will meet Friday, April 3, 2015 at Woodlawn Cemetery for an 11:00 AM Interment Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Meridian Baptist Church Pavilion Fund, 6513 Chapman Hwy., Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com
