U.S. Veteran George Anderson Galyon, age 61, of Knoxville passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. George was born in Lenoir City and attended Lenoir City High School. He served in the US Navy as a BM2-Master at Arms on the USS Saratoga during the Vietnam War and worked many years as a mechanic. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Vowie and Gary C. Cornett; father, Walter Anderson Galyon; sister, Dorothy Letcho; and brother, Wayne Letcho. He is survived by his wife Nancy Galyon; daughter and son-in-law, Chandra and Mike Garland; son Warren Galyon; stepsons and their wives, David and Michelle Suddath, Matthew and Amanda Suddath; sister, Juanita Valentine; and brother Gary C. Cornett; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm Monday, January 16, 2012 at Manes Funeral Home, 363 East Main Street, Newport, TN 37821. Graveside services will be held at a later date in the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920 with Rev. Ronald Russell officiating.
