BOYD MICHAEL “MIKE” DOUGLAS, age 77 of Dandridge, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center in Jefferson City, TN following a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Mike was a fifty year member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. As a 43 year member, he was Past Master of Brazelton Lodge #190 F. & AM in Dandridge and was a member of the Scottish Rite where he achieved the station of Knight’s Commander in the court of Honor. Moreover, in the York Rite, Mike was active in the Kerbela Shriners Temple and was a proud member of the Royal Order of Scotland. Mike kept the United States Army rolling by specializing as a mechanic and was proud to have served his country. In 1974, he established the Alpha Outdoor Power Equipment Co. in Morristown where he enjoyed meeting and serving many friends and customers over the years. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Brazelton Lodge #190, P.O. Box 1484, Dandridge, TN 37725. Preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Ruth Douglas and his sister, Peggy Douglas Swaggerty. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Belva Ann Smith Douglas, his son, Stephen M. Douglas and wife Penny Carr Douglas; grandchildren, Mika Rae and Samuel Major Douglas. Funeral services, Sunday, August 4, 2013, 7:00pm at the Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Masonic services immediately following the funeral. Graveside interment services will be Monday, 10:00am at Hillcrest Cemetery. Family will receive friends, Sunday, 4:00 to 7:00pm at the church prior to services.
