Carl B.Taylor, age 89, of Knoxville passed away suddenly Thursday evening, November 24 at 10:18 p.m. Carl proudly served his country during World War II with the U S Marine Corp. He participated in action against the enemy in Guadalcanal, Solomans Islands, Gilbert Islands, Saipan, Mariannas Island and Okinawa. He was a Purple Heart Recipient. Carl was a retired salesman from Texize Chemicals in 1982 (Morton International). He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Dicie Taylor; grandson, Chad Kerley. He is survived by his wife, Helen of 65 years; 3 children, Gail Long and husband, Virgil of Maryville, Annette Bowman and husband, Dan of Knoxville, Barry Taylor of Knoxville; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Meyers of Portland, OR, Amy Atchley of Knoxville, Nathan and Ted Long of Maryville, Whitney Hungerford of Knoxville; 16 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Rev. Robert Taylor and Earl Taylor both of Greenville, SC; sister, Neva Ruth Fowler of Ashboro, NC. His devotion to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to his family, were the central driving forces in his life. Although he will be sadly missed, the Christian legacy that he leaves behind and the personal integrity in which he led his life is an example for us all and cannot be fully measured. Carl attended West View Wesleyan Church of Knoxville and his family wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the church at 3224 Joyce Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37921. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 3:45 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 4 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Middlebrook Chapel. Rev. Dan Mayhle will officiate. Family and friends will gather at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the East Tennessee State Veterans’ Cemetery, 2200 East Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville for graveside services with full military honors conferred by the U S Marine Corp. Click Funeral Home, Middlebrook Chapel, 9020 Middlebrook Pike is serving the Taylor family.
