U.S. Veteran Wilford S. Ottinger, age 85, of Newport, passed away, Saturday, May 20, 2006 at his home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Blazer Ottinger; step-father, Eugene Ottinger; son, Bruce Oscar Ottinger; brothers, Fred Ottinger and Cecil Ottinger; great grandson, Andrew Cody Hale. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mabel Ottinger of Newport; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and James Dyke, Shirley and John L. Park all of Newport, Janie and J. L. Maynard of Del Rio; granddaughters and husbands, Melissa and Jamie Hale of Dandridge, Tracy and Darrell Brown of Newport; great grandchildren, Katie Brown, Jonathan Hale, Corey Hale and Ashley Brown , sister Selma Bible of Newport, sister in law Ovella Ottinger of Parrottsville. Funeral Services will be held 8:00 pm, Sunday, May 21, 2006 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Keith Presnell officiating. Burial will be held 11:00 am, Monday, May 22, 2006 in Salem-Lutheran Cemetery, with L/Cpl Charles C. Roberts DAV Chapter 102 conducting military rites. The family and will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Sunday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral.
