He was born in the Big Greenbrier section of the Great Smoky Mountains. He was before his illness, an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Alcoa. Preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Stansberry Whaley; four sisters and three brothers; parents, William & Sally Jane Whaley. Survivors: sisters, Zina Lindsey Davis of Sevierville, Lorene Huskey of Townsend; several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and great nephews. Family and friends will meet at Boyd's Creek Cemetery in Sevier Co. at 4 p.m. Friday September 15, 2000 for graveside service & interment, Rev. Rick Hollifield, Rev. Timothy Stinnett officiating.
