Dot Whaley, 83, a resident of Cleveland passed away Friday, October 10, 2008 in the Athens Regional Medical Center.
Dot was a faithful member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church. He loved his church and his church family and was loved in return and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He served with the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Whaley worked as upholster at Collins Manufacturing Co. for many years before retiring.
A native of Sevier County, he was the son of the late Andrew and Laura Whaley.
Mr. Whaley is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Whaley; sons, Paul Whaley and Andrew Whaley of Cleveland; daughters, Sheila Crye and husband Mike and Tressa Whaley all of Cleveland, Linda Henderson and Pat Whaley of Sevierville; grandchildren, Chastity Ann Crye, Hillary Jane Crye of Cleveland, Jessica Henderson and Brandon Whaley of Sevierville; sisters, Beulah Harris of Etowah and Eda Whaley of Cleveland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Anthony Howard officiating. Interment will follow in the Ramsey Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the services.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
