Cherokee - Amos Lambert, 87, of the Wolfetown community of Cherokee, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Cherokee Indian Hospital after a period of declining health.
A native of Swain County, he lived in Jackson County for the past 25 years.
He was a retired electrician and was First Officer for the Cherokee Police Department.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was the son of the late Thomas Raper and Nancy Yonce Lambert.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lalah Bales Lambert, who died November 2004, a daughter, Sharlotte Lambert, two grandchildren, brothers, Seymore Lambert and Willard Lambert, and sisters, Florence Bradley and Fauline Harris.
Surviving are three daughters, Beulah Young, Phyllis Tomlinson and Shirley Reagen, all of Cherokee, three sons, William "Willie" Lambert, Charles Lambert and Grady Lambert, all of Cherokee, sisters, Mary Lambert Keener of Cherokee, 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tow String Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with the Revs. Doug Mathews, Ray Lambert and Dan Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Tow String Cemetery.
