Lela Ramsey Balch, age 81, of Newport, died Saturday, January 8, 2005, in Appalachian Christian Village in Johnson City, Tenn.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newport and the Sowers Sunday School Class. She was retired secretary of the Cocke County Health Department.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Claude Balch Jr., and brothers, Carroll, Mack, and Aden Ramsey.
She is survived by her son, Rodney Balch, and wife, Laura, of Johnson City; daughter, Loretta Balch Roberts, and husband, Dr. Jack Roberts, of Louisville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Jacob Stuart Balch, of Johnson City, and Jack Thomas Roberts III, of Louisville, Tenn.; also nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rich Lloyd officiating, with burial in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral services.
