Vonda Ann "Honey" Barnes passed away suddenly Sunday, March 7, 2004, at her home. Honey, as she has always been affectionately known to her family and friends, was born March 24, 1949 in Newport. Honey attended Edgemont Elementary School and graduated from Cocke County High School in 1967. She worked at the Department of Human Services in the 70's. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aden and Louise Ramsey; grandparents, Forrest and Ruby Shoemaker, Stuart Ramsey and Loretta Valentine. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Autumn Barnes, of Morristown; former husband, Dorsey Barnes, Morristown; sisters, Sandy Ramsey, California; Sherry Strange, Newport; Marcy Hooks, Atlanta; brothers, Ricky Ramsey, Newport; Lynn Ramsey, Colorado; aunts, JoAnn Lawson, Newport; Linda Householder, White Pine; Judy Layman, Newport; Lela Balch, Johnson City; several nieces, nephews, and special cousins. Memorial services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. Manes Funeral Home is in charge.
