Sandy Ramsey, former resident of Newport, passed away on October 11, 2007 at Johnson City Medical Center.
She worked at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County as an ER nurse for several years.
After leaving Newport, she worked as a traveling nurse in Atlanta, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Her most recent position was at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. She moved to Johnson City in February to be near her son, Jordan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aden Ramsey and Louise Ramsey; sister Vonda (Honey) Barnes; grandparents, Forrest and Ruby Shoemaker and Stuart Ramsey and Loretta Valentine.
She is survived by her son, Jordan Ramsey, of Johnson City; sisters, Sherry Strange of Newport and Marcy Hooks of Atlanta; brothers, Ricky Ramsey of Newport and Lynn Ramsey of Colorado; aunts, JoAnn Lawson, Judy Layman and Linda Householder, all of Newport; several special nieces, nephews and cousins. She was blessed with many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at 2 p.m.
The family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice. No flowers, please.
