MAYES, CLYDE LEON - age 86 of Knoxville went home to be with the Lord on June 16, 2010. Born August 3, 1923. Member of Elm St. Baptist Church for over 60 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Bright Hope Lodge. Mr. Mayes retired from ORNL. Preceded in death by parents, Robert Mayes and Lena Mayes. Survived by loving wife Opal Welch Mayes; son Gene and special daughter-in-law Cloelia Mayes; daughter Kay and husband Gale Perry; grandchildren Kelli (Mike) White, Russ (Aleta) Perry, and Rob Perry; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Ruby (Paul) Letsinger, Pearl (Jim) Sentell, Jewell (Maurice) Davis; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday at Weaver Funeral Home with service to follow at 8 pm, Pastor David Cardwell officiating. Family and friends will meet 11:45 am Saturday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 12 pm interment. You are invited to share your memories of Clyde at our website www.weaverfuneralservices.com.
