PORTERFIELD , ROMAN AMON - 73, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2005. A native of Knox County, Tenn., he had been a Peninsula resident for 33 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force, as a Senior Master Sergeant, after 21 years of service. He was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church, Knox County, Tenn. Mr. Porterfield was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Eleanor Y. Porterfield . Survivors include four sons, David Porterfield and wife, Shirley of Tennessee and Gerald Porterfield , Kevin Porterfield and Keith Porterfield and wife, Lisa, all of Hampton four grandchildren, Crystal Woods and husband, Chris, Matthew Porterfield and wife, Jeannette, Brittany Porterfield and Jimmy Porterfield one great-granddaughter, Emily Woods and sister Mary Ellen Reed of Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2005 at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, officiated by Elder Arthur Dunbar. Burial will follow in Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens. [S1] U. S.
