She loved being a volunteer “pink lady” at Blount Memorial Hospital; she put in over 18,000 hours there. She was a devoted member of Salem Baptist Church. She was very loved by her children, everyone she met fell in love with her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Glenn Countess, retired MSgt with the Air Force; parents, Clifford and Ollie Smith; sisters, Edith McKee, Frances Cole. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Lane, Janet Hiers; son and daughter in law, Roger and Janette Countess; grandchildren, Alisha Lane, Chris Lane, Susan Hiers, Ryan and Nicholas Countess; great grandchild, Trae Soloman; brothers, Ralph Smith (June); sister, Nellie Stooksbury; brother in law, Thomas McKee; sisters in law, Irene Mauch, Darlene Countess. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Monday February 4, 2013 at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Toby Downey officiating. The graveside and interment service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
