Preceded in death by her parents, Hess (Lambert) and Roy Miller and grandparents Betty Elizabeth and Howard Miller and Alice and James Lambert, brother James Howard Miller, and beloved niece Kimberly Robyn (Parrish) Watkins.
Survived by her husband of 53 years, Ralph Houston Ratledge Jr., daughter and son-in-law Shana Houston Ratledge and Stewart Schmidt, son and daughter-in-law Ralph Houston (Trey) Ratledge III and Sahra (Tinker) Ratledge. Grandchildren: Aliza Kate Schmidt, Esmerelda Schmidt, Dawson Schmidt, Savannah Schmidt, Jesse Schmidt, and Ralph Houston Ratledge IV, sister Mildred (Tootie) Miller Parrish, and nephews James Howard Miller II and Steven Parrish.
Dorothy was a proud graduate of Friendsville High School, who dearly loved all of her classmates, and enjoyed working on class reunions throughout the years. Alumna of the University of Tennessee, Dorothy was a passionate fan of UT football and basketball and supported the teams by traveling all over the country to see her VOLS play, to include bringing home a National Championship in 1998.
Dorothy worked at Maurice Shell Homes before beginning a career in banking at Knox Federal Savings and Loan where she served as Vice President of Mortgage Lending. She continued to serve through many ownership transitions before retiring with BB&T. She enjoyed helping people through the process of buying their homes.
Dorothy became a Christian and was married at Salem Baptist Church, Greenback. She was a lifelong adult member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she served as a teacher, treasurer and an active choir member for over 40 years. Dorothy most recently attending Friendship Baptist Church. She was a long time member of Eastern Star and former member of Sunrise Garden club.
Dorothy loved working in the yard and relished having beautiful flowers everywhere. She enjoyed traveling and following Nascar racing with family and friends.
A hard worker, devoted daughter, faithful wife, and loving mother and grandmother, she will be sorely missed by all she touched with her infectious smile and generosity of spirit.
Receiving of friends will be held at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville, TN. on Sunday, May 29th between 5 and 7 P.M. Funeral service to follow. Internment will be at Hopewell Baptist Church on Monday, May 30th at 11 A.M.
