Kathryn “Kitty” Alcott of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday evening, May 12, 2011, after a long illness. Kitty was a talented fused glass artist in our community. Prior to switching to the glass medium, she was a ceramic artist with a BFA degree from the University of Florida. Kitty was proud to be a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild and Foothills Craft Guild. One of her favorite things in life was their morning ritual of riding into the Greenbrier area of the GSMNP with her husband. She loved creating her beautiful fused glasswork, and loved sharing her skills by teaching at Arrowmont. Teaching the Children’s Classes at Arrowmont was one of her passions. She leaves behind her devoted husband and caregiver, Pete; parents, Don and Joan Hayworth; brother, Casey Hayworth; nieces, Nicole and Naomi; and her treasured pets — Katie, Ury and Stinky. The art community will miss her friendship and her extraordinary craftsmanship. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, PO Box 567, Gatlinburg, TN 37738 to benefit the Children’s Classes. Arrangements by Cremation Options, Inc. (865) 6WE-CARE (693-2273).
