Ita Watson Blalock, age 88 of Sevierville, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Born November 10, 1923, she was raised in the Boogertown Community of Sevier County and was a member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville. She was a graduate of Pi Beta Phi High School and Lincoln Memorial University. She taught at Sevierville Elementary School for many years until she retired to work in the family hardware business and do volunteer work at Sevier County Hospital which she performed for over 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Blalock, parents Bob and Viola Trentham Watson, and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Wynn and husband Lanning; grandchildren, Lanna Wynn of Atlanta and Phillip Wynn and wife Laurissa; brother, J.B. Watson and wife Sara; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Home Instead Senior Care, Wellington Place, Sevierville and Smoky Mountain Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to LeConte Medical Center Volunteers, c/o Mary Bundren, 724 Middle Creek Road, Sevierville, Tennessee 37862.
Family and friends will meet 10 AM Saturday at Middle Creek Cemetery for graveside service and interment with Rev. Daniel Ogle officiating. The family will receive friends 4-6 PM Friday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
