TIPTON, JULIA ANNE - age 95, of Oak Ridge, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Methodist Medical Center. She was born January 18, 1916 in Seymour, TN, one of eight children born to James Wilson Thomas and Agnes Camilla Sullivan Thomas. Mrs. Tipton was a long-time member of First Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed handcrafts of all kinds and her passion in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Claude Clay Tipton in 1987 and great grand-son, Cody Rice in 2003. She was also preceded in death by brothers, George, James, Mart, Jesse and John and sisters, Pearl and Betty Jean. She is survived by son, Ricky Tipton and wife Deanna; daughter, Judy Rice and husband George, all of Oak Ridge; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Thomas of Clinton; grandchildren, Tommy Rice and wife Christie of Kingston, Stephanie Huddleston and husband Tim of Clinton, Heather Milbrandt and husband James of Fork Union, VA and Jonathan Crowson of Oak Ridge and 4 great grandchildren, Katie and Sydney Rice, Mason Huddleston and Lilly Milbrandt. The family will receive friends Friday, May 13, 2011 from 6 - 8pm at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 8pm with Rev. Charles Rice and Rev. David Cox officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that any memorials be made to the Activities Department of Briarcliff Health Care Center or to a church of the donor's choice.
