HARRISON, CYNTHIA UPTON - was born Sept 20, 1947 to Lex and Mildred Upton in Sweetwater, TN. On Saturday February 11, 2012 she went home to be with the Lord. She graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1965, and attended Knoxville College, where she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Later she graduated from University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in Elementary Education. She retired from teaching with Knox County School system after 32 years of service. A treasured wife, mother, and sister, she is survived by husband Al Harrison; daughters, Sonya Moreland and Rhonda (Chris) Taylor; grandchildren, AJ and Amani Moreland and Lauren and Emmanuel Taylor; siblings, James (Mary Ann) Upton, Ronald (Almeda) Upton, Lester (Valerie), Upton, Dennis (LaTanya) Upton, George (Gladys) Upton, Ann (Julian) Blackshear, Audra (Michael) Cox. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. and funeral services will follow on Friday February 17, 2012 at Freedom Fellowship Christian Church in Knoxville, TN with pastor Derick Wakefield officiating, Interment will be on Saturday February 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at North Point Cemetery in Sweetwater, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Black Heritage Scholarship Fund in care of Sweetwater Bible Church 314 Cedar Valley Road Sweetwater, TN 37874.
