Dorothy “Dot” Wade, age 81, of Maryville, passed away Friday, June 29, 2007 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Dot was born, November 30, 1925, in Clarksdale, MS. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Alcoa where she was active as Sunday school teacher, as a member of the Chancel Choir, The Beverly Bells, the Naomi Circle, and Over 50’s group. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Glenn C. Wade; daughter, Linda Wade; daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Randall Endsley; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Tina Wade, Robert Wade and Kim Nixon; grandchildren, Corey and Monica Endsley and Paris and Alex Wade; and sister, Rachel Petty of Crestview, Florida. Dot led a fun-filled, busy social life. She touched many people in a positive way with her jokes and laughter. Always active socially, Dot belonged to the following organizations over her life, Eastern Star, Martha Washington Chapter, No. 231, was the current Vice President of the Chilhowee Club, and a member of the Red Hatters Club. She also sang in the independent chorus group Rejoice. She was involved in tennis in Blount County and Knoxville for several years as a player and director of tournaments, Dot was a member of a senior tennis team that won the Tennessee State Championship in the USTA program. Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2007 at First United Methodist Church of Alcoa, 617 Gilbert Street, Alcoa, TN 37701-2373, (865) 982-5551. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2007 at First United Methodist Church. The family request, in lieu of flowers, please contribute in the name of Dorothy Wade to the First United Methodist Church of Alcoa Building Fund, 617 Gilbert Street, Alcoa, TN 37701-2373 or by contacting the church secretary at (865) 982-5551.
