John Stanley Green, born November 20, 1923, went to be with the Lord at his home on March 13, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel Kate Knowles Green; daughter, Kathy Ann "Goody" Green; brothers, Charlie "Peanut" Green, Walt Green, Isaac Green, and George Green; sisters, Mae Holt, Ethel Reagan, and Edna Holt.
He is survived by his "wonderful wife," Mary Sumner Green; daughters and their husbands, Patsy and Bruce Austin, Lisa and Bill Miller, Angela and Alan Hartsell, Amy and Marvin Holt, and Tammy and Charlie Loyd; daughter, Debra Walker; sisters, Katherine Gentry and Dorothy Barnes.
Also survived by 14 grandchildren, Karen, Melinda, Trent, Scotty, Adam, Megan, Logan, Codi, Lindsey, Matthew, Dillon, Spencer, Brooke, and Austin; seven great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Amber, Dalton, Jadon, Alyssa, AuBree, and Ayden; also a host of other family and friends.
At John's request, his body was donated for medical research. His remains will be cremated.
The family will have a private memorial at a later date.
Anyone wishing to offer their condolences can join the family Thursday, March 27, at New Bethel Free Will Baptist Church at 6 p.m. They will be celebrating John and Mary's 50th wedding anniversary.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come.
