Walter Green, age 89, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at his home.
He retired from Ford Motor Company in Elyria, Ohio, and was the former owner/operator of Indian Creek and Swann’s Boat Dock.
He was of Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Helen Rice and Francis Legg; and a step-son, Charles Austin.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Austin Green, of Newport; daughters, Dorothy Woodard, of Nashville, Nancy Janik, of Cleveland, Ohio, Linda Hernandez, of Elyria, Ohio, Anita Green, of Smithville, KY, Sandy Peeples, of Newcomerstown, Ohio; sons, Bill Green, of Elyria, Ohio, Walter Green, of Lorraine, Ohio, Mark Green, of Newport; step-children, Jan Austin, of Newport, and Jerry Austin, of Nashville; sisters, Edna Holt, Dorothy Barnes, and Catherine Gentry, all of Newport; brothers, Johnny, Ike and George Green, all of Newport; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m., Friday evening, at Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Adam Sanders officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Dunn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, prior to the service.
