DAY, USAF, RET 64, husband of Susan Hill Day, of Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully at home, January 21, 2012. Born September 25, 1947 in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of Sue Watson Day and the late Walter W. Day. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force, where he retired in 1971. He began working as a sheet metal worker for General Dynamics. He is loved and will be missed by his wife of 43 years; his daughters, Colleen Day (Steve) of Columbia, Alicia Day of Charleston; his mother; his sister, Connie Day of Marietta, GA; his grandson, Anthony Day of Columbia; granddaughters, Alaina Day and Megan Day, both of Charleston; and his beloved canine companions, Chloe, Abby, DeeDee and Maggie. The family received friends Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home with interment to follow in Live Oak Cemetery.
