BAILEY , MR. NEWELL FREEDOM - age 78, of Corryton, passed away, Friday, September 7, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospice Center in Halls. Member of New Friendship Baptist Church, veteran of World War II. Preceded in death by parents, Dennis L. and Stella (Crawford) Bailey ; brothers, D.L. and Kenneth Wayne Bailey ; sisters, Darlene Coram and Bobbie DeVault. He is survived by wife of 53 years, Thelma B. (Tharp) Bailey ; sister, Mildred Jones of Andersonville; brothers and sister in law, Denny D. Bailey and Ronald and Judy Bailey , all of Luttrell; aunts, Laverne Cockran and Eva Dillon of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews, along with many other family members and friends. The family sends a special thank you to Dr. Bruce Avery and staff, along with the staff of St. Mary's Hospice Center. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Ailor's Chapel with Rev. Richard Nicley and music by Linda Nicley. Interment in Sharps Cemetery, Corryton-Luttrell Road. Pallbearers: Carson Tharp, Carlton Coram, Jerry Bailey , Denny Tharp, Greg Corum, and Randy Tharp. Honorary pallbearers, Jack York, Oakie Triplett, Hubert Lunsford, and Hoyle Parker. The family will be at the home of Thelma Bailey . The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Ailor Mortuary, Maynardville.
