Gladys was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents sister, Cledith Lee brothers, William, James , B.H., Ted, Fred and Hubert Green . She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, James P. Maples daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Carlton Cooper, Joy and Jon Moore, Dianne and Gary Forry son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Susan maples 11 grandchildren 7 great-grandchildren several nieces, nephews and extended family. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary's Holston Health Care and St. Mary's Hospice. A celebration of her life will be held at Valley Grove Baptist Church, Chapman Highway at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2003 with Dr. Bobby Tucker and Rev. Harry Mynatt officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. prior to the funeral. Family and friends will meet at Highland South Cemetery on Friday, November 14, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. for interment services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Valley Grove Baptist Church, The J.P. and Gladys Maples Scholarship Endowment Fund at The University of Tennessee or to The Gay Harris Scholarship at Carson Newman College.
