Kenneth Dale Atwell, age 58, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away early Wednesday, June 4, 2003, in a local hospital.
He had lived in the LaFayette area for the past three years and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was also a Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War and had retired from Norfolk Southern after more than 29 years.
He was a Loving Husband, Father, GrandFather, and Brother who will be sadly missed and always remembered.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Virgil Atwell and Anna Cutshaw; Two Sisters, Mrs. Fred (Joyce) Swarthout and Mrs. Ed (Ginny) Thorburn; and Four Brothers, Carl Atwell, Perry Joe Atwell, Tipton Earl Atwell, and Dennis Atwell.
Survivors include: His Wife of more than 35 years, Joetta Atwell, of LaFayette; Two Sons, Wes & (Karen) Atwell, of Chattanooga, and Nathan and (Audra) Atwell, of Kingsport, TN; Two Daughters, Mrs. Jack (Kenna) Cash, of Jonesborough, TN, and Mrs. Jeff (Mollee) Sutherland, of Kingsport, TN; Two Sisters, Mrs. Bob (Hope) Knight, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Mrs. Gerald (Iris) Stuart, of White Lake, Michigan; three Sisters-in Law, Barb, Nancy, & Marcia Atwell; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. in the Appalachian-Hartman Funeral Home Chapel in Johnson City with Rev. Mason Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Home National Cemetery with Kingsport V.F.W. #3382 providing military rites.
The Family will begin receiving friends after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the Appalachian-Hartman Funeral Home, 800 East Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601 (423) 928-6111.
Arrangements are by the LaFayette Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, LaFayette, Georgia.
