SEXTON, GEORGE A. - 88, Kokomo, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, at 12:50 p.m. at North Woods Village in Kokomo. He was born on January 12, 1923 in Coche County, Tennessee to the late Elam Sexton and Rosa Lee (Gregg) Sexton. George married Wanda L. Tharpe on July 8, 1950 in Tennessee and she preceded him in death on November 21, 2006. He worked at American Standard Pottery for many years maintaining the kiln drawer, and then retired in 1980. Later in life, he was known for always eating biscuits and gravy at the Hardee's on the bypass. George is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Kenneth) Hecht, Macy, IN; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; two sisters, Pauline (Clarence) Cole, Knoxville, TN, and Cleo Clark; two brothers, Charles "Junior" (Betty) Sexton, Texas, and Bill Sexton, Florida; along with several nieces and nephews. George was preceded by his wife, Wanda Sexton; his parents; four brothers, Paul Sexton, John Sexton, Sherman "Buster" Sexton, and J.D. Sexton; along with a sister, Betty Sue Shirley. All of George's friends are welcome to join his family for a time of visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 South Main Street, Kokomo. The funeral service for George will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 also at the Mortuary, with Rev. Kenneth Spangler officiating. We will then be taking George to his final resting place in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Kokomo.
