Dale Henry Goodman, 73, of Jonesboro, Ga., formerly of Forest Park, and Greenback, died of cancer on April 9, 2011. He volunteered in little league sports at the Forest Park Recreation Center. He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors and the Sunny South Hunting Club. He had great love for his family and friends, taking special delight in his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Sandra; son, the Rev. Terry Goodman and wife, Debbie, of Bluefield, Va.; son, Patrick, of Jonesboro; sister, Vivian Cobb, of Locust Grove; brother, Larry and wife, Almedia, of Loudon; grandchildren, David, Jacob, Andrew and Daniel Goodman, of Virginia, Megan Goodman, of Jonesboro; and two special “honorary” grandchildren, Jonah Smith and Franky Holcomb, of Jonesboro; uncle, Ken Spires, of Greenback, Tenn.; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Goodman was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Goodman and Stella Spires Goodman Rider, and his son, David Phillip Goodman. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. April 30 at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, Greenback. The family requests no flowers. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery.
