Jean Webb McFarland , 77, of Charlotte , NC, died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Carolinas Medical Center. She was born February 13, 1930 in Sevierville, TN, a daughter of the late William Marion Webb and Grace Tarwater Webb . An artist and art teacher, Mrs. McFarland taught Art and Design at Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC. She received her Bachelors and Master of Fine Arts degrees from the University of Georgia. Jean was an active member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and for a number of years was a member of the Oratory of St. Philip Neri in Rock Hill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5:30 PM Thursday, October 4, 2007 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with The Reverend Timothy S. Reid, Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:30 PM Thursday prior to the Mass. Interment will be at a later date in the Williamson Chapel Church Cemetery, Maryville, TN. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, John G. McFarland , of Tallahassee, FL. and W. Jeff McFarland , of Birmingham, AL; a brother, Bill Webb , of Brevard, N.C.; six sisters, Linda Downing, of Friday Harbor, WA., Peggy Ford, of Robbinsville, N.C., Joanne Buchanan, of Maitland, FL., Sandra Goodman, of Jonesboro, GA., June Goddard, of Maryville, TN., and Margie Van Buren, of Orlando; and three grandchildren, Leslie Phillips, Charlotte McFarland , and Laura McFarland . She was much loved and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ann's Catholic Church, 3635 Park Road, Charlotte , N.C. 28209.
