He was a member of Eusebia Presbyterian Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel A. and Martha Rogers McMurray. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carolyn McMurray; sons, Samuel E. McMurray and wife Pam, and Chadwick R. McMurray and wife Micki; granddaughters, Haley, Hannah, and Janna McMurray; sisters-in-law, Kay Lawson and husband Phil, and Jerri McCarter and husband Tom; brother-in-law, Ruble Welch; special niece, Kimberley McCarter; and several nephews, cousins, and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eusebia Presbyterian Church, 1701 Burnett Station Road, Seymour, TN 37865. Funeral service 7 PM Friday in Atchley's Seymour Chapel with Dr. Dwyn M. Mounger and Rev. Rob Williamson officiating. Interment 1 PM Saturday in Eusebia Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 104. Pallbearers will be Cecil McMurray, Dwight McMurray, Gary McMurray, Ronnie McMurray, Mark McMurray, Ron French, and Lester Hedrick.
