Jean Smith Morgan, 77, of Rutledge, who was saved at an early age, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Fort Sanders Hospital. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church of Rutledge.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Alma Cole; brothers, the Rev. Al Smith, the Rev. Jim Smith and Fred Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Junior morgan; daughter, Gail of the home; daughters, Vicki (Garry) Duck of Rutledge, Patty Morgan, Teresa Ellington and Tracy (Jeff) Akard, all of Morristown; grandsons, Bengi Proffitt, Travis “Mooder” (Alicia) Proffitt, Matthew (Crystal) Duck, Adam (Jenna) Morgan and Andy (Jessie) Morgan; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Runion, Helen Morgan and Katherine Hammer; brother, Alan Smith; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at Fielden Chapel with the Rev. Alan Smith, the Rev. Buddy Cameron and grandson, Travis Proffitt officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday in Mitchell Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service at Fielden Funeral Home.
