LADD, MR. R.C. age 83, of Molyneux Street, Rockwood, TN passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Mr. Ladd was born September 10, 1925 to Robert Christian and Alice Kay Kelsey Ladd. He was a member of Eureka Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon since 1970. Mr. Ladd was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and was a member of American Legion Post #50. He served on the Roane County Farm Bureau's Board of Directors. Mr. Ladd retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority, Kingston Steam Plant and was a big U.T. Vol fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rema Liles Ladd; son-in-law, Johnny Smith; brothers, Audabon Ladd, and Kendall Ladd; sister, Mary Irving; sister-in-law, Linna Long; and brother-in-law, Roger Liles. Survivors include: daughter: Rebecca Lynn Smith of Powell, TN ; grandson: Wesley Christian Smith (Kim) of Strawberry Plains, TN ; 3 special great grandchildren: Derek Christian Smith, Emily Katherine Smith and Abigail, Rebecca Smith; sisters: Jane McCormack of Ormond Beach, FL, Arminta Robinson of Oak Ridge, TN , Alvah Campbell of Lenoir City, TN , Alyce Franken of Cincinnati, OH; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jerry Long, Wilma Davis, Roy Liles (Helen); Ralph Liles (Sue Ann), Fema Weiford (Bobby), Reece Liles (Carolyn), Peggy Liles, Judy, Layne (William), all of Petros, TN ; host of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Friday, September 4, 2009 at 8 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Rev. Mike Winters and Rev. Mark McCoig officiating. Interment will be Saturday, September 5 at 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Deacons of Eureka Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eureka Baptist Church. An online register is available at evansmortuary.net. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. R.C. Ladd.
