Preceded in death by his son Eddie Burton, mother Kate Helton , father Elmer Burton, brother Raymond Lane and sister Virgie Goins . Survivors: Wife of 36 years Evelyn Burton. Children: Samantha (Bob) Standifer, Frankie Carter, Rose Rumsey, Kathy Carter, Debbie Carter, Brenda Carter and Sherry Bunch. Sister: Linda Trent. Brother: William (June) Lane. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 8:00 p.m. Friday October 13, 2006 in the chapel of Mayes Mortuary with the Rev. George Davis and Rev. Rick Bradberry officiating. Military graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2006 in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday prior to the services at the mortuary. Arrangements by Mayes Mortuary in Morristown.
