He was a member of Milan Baptist Church, U.S. Army Veteran and a retired employee of the Union County Highway Department. Giving all his glory to God for 27 years, this Christian Husband, Dad, and Papaw will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Preceded in death by: parents, James and Gladys (Miller) Alfrey ; infant daughter, Sandra Alfrey ; son, Gary James Alfrey . Survivors; wife of 36 years, Jeanette Chittum Alfrey , Maynardville; son, Larry Alfrey , Ohio; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Leslie Alfrey ; John and Linda Alfrey , all of Maynardville; Ten grandchildren, Larry Jr., Ryan, Melissa, Rachel, Tiffany, Joshua, Ashley, Andrea, Tyler and Nikki; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and a host of special friends. Funeral services 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Cooke Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Ralph Cox, Rev Bill Winters officiating with music by Milan Church Singers. Interment 11 a.m. Friday, Union Church Cemetery, Maynardville. Pallbearers; Virgil Yadon, Jackie Chittum, Terry Chittum, Chad Richardson, Tim Shipley, John Henderson.
