Jerry Franklin Brinkley, 59, of Lynco, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2011. He was born October 9, 1951, in Maryville, a son of the late James Henderson Brinkley and Alice P. “Pat” Hall Brinkley. Jerry was a 1969 graduate of Oceana High School, a coal miner having 36 years of service and member of the UMWA. In addition to his father, a sister, Jama Elizabeth Massengill; and a brother, James Larry Brinkley; also preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and had an associate degree in mining. Survivors include his loving wife, Teresa J. Blackburn Brinkley; his mother, Alice P. “Pat” Hall Brinkley of Maryville; a daughter, Tessa Brinkley of Charleston, W.Va.; a stepson, Josh Blackburn of Lynco, W.Va.; a sister, Judy Brinkley Laxton and husband Larry of Mobile, Ala.; nieces and nephews, Kris Massengill, Natasha, Maeghan and Keylan Laxton; special friend, Araya Sunshine Graham; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, W.Va., with Rev. Johnny Toler and Pastor Jay Morgan officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 5 p.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011, in the Old Piney Grove Cemetery, Maryville, with Pastor Rex Everett officiating.
