Marie Unav Strickland, of Maryville, passed away at 2:25 a.m. March 29, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was born June 11, 1929, in Blount County to Carrie and Susie Lowe. She married Charles W. Strickland in 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brothers, Lester, Leroy and Hazel, Doyle and Sevada, and Earnest Ray, all of Georgia; sisters, Imogene and Vaughn Williams, Alice and Gene Mallot; and twin sisters; son, Jeffery Allen Strickland in 1988; and granddaughter, Cheyanne Strickland on March 6, 2012. She is survived by her children, Kathy and Lester Baker, Stanley and Irene Strickland of Peoria, Ill., Linda Strickland, with whom she lived, Carol and Allen Potter, and Darrell Strickland, all of Maryville, and Judy and William Conner of Alcoa; sister, Leola Spradlin of Maryville; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, in the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Lane and Rev. William C. Funk officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:15 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the funeral home to proceed to Chilhowee Cemetery for a 2 p.m. graveside service.
