Jessie Ellen Mize of Camden died of cancer Monday, July 14, 1997, in Kent General Hospital. She was 74.
Mrs. Mize was born July 2, 1923, in Sevier County, Tenn., the daughter of the late Bates and Rhoda King.
She was a homemaker in Sevierville, Tenn., until moving to Camden in 1956 where she was employed at the hosiery mill in Wyoming for nine years. In 1965 she went to I.L.C. Industries, where she was involved in developing and manufacturing space suits. She was proud of her contribution to this program and that her name was permanently enshrined on the lunar surface. She retired from I.L.C. in 1989.
Mrs. Mize was a member of the Gists Creek Baptist Church in Sevierville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Mark Mize Sr.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Nancy Mize Jr. of Layton, Utah; a daughter and son-in-law, Maxine and Pete Watford of Wyoming; a grandson and his wife, Stroman and Coleen Watford of Cour d'Alene, Idaho; a grandaughter Melissa Watford of Camden; a great-grandson, Scott Watford of Cour d'Alene, Idaho; a sister, Mary Annettee Proffitt of Sevierville and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be noon Wednesday at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden- Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
