POLSON, WILBUR LEE - age 86 of Knoxville passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He is at rest in the Lord Jesus Christ, and reunited with loved ones who have gone before. Wilbur retired, with 41 years of service, from the United States Post Office; and was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mettie Ellen Polson; parents, Frank and Vera Polson; brothers, Freeman Polson, Robert Polson, and Jerry Polson; and sister Dorothy Ann Peavler. Wilbur is survived by his children, Patricia Ann Combs, Henry Carson and wife Francis, and Dorothy Lee Polson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Polson and wife Brenda, Tommie Polson; sisters-in-law, Emma Jean Polson and Joy Polson; brother-in-law, James Peavler; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care of Dr. Robert Montgomery and the staff of Avalon Hospice. At the family's request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sevier Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 3232 Alcoa Hwy. A celebration of Wilbur's life will be 6pm Friday at Sevier Heights Baptist Church in the Choir Room with the Rev. David Harkins officiating. Family and friends will gather Saturday at Highland Memorial Cemetery for an 11am graveside service.
