Cate, Walter Leon – age 80 of Knoxville, TN departed this life Monday, August 10, 2009, at home. He was a member of the North Knoxville Baptist Church and retired from the US Air Force with more than 22 years of service. He worked as an inspector for Holiday Inns, Inc. He was a member of Lodge #143, Melbourne, FL; Past Master Palm Bay Lodge #397, Palm Bay, FL; 32 degree Knight Commander Court of Honor, Scottish Rite Orlando, FL; Cabbell Royal Arch Chapter #807, Norwich, Norfork, England; Barnard Lodge Mark Master Masons #687, Mortimer Lodge; Royal Ark Mariners #687 Wymondham, Norkfolk, England; The United Religiious and Military Order of the Temple and of St. John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta, Lynn Regis Preceptory #330, Kings Lynn, Norfolk, United Kingdom. Preceded in death by wife, Mary Ann Cate; Father, Roy C. Cate; Mother, Della Johnson Cate; Brothers, Hugh Cate and Carl Cate; step-brothers, Ray Cate, Edward Cate, Steward Johnson, Homer Johnson; step-sisters, Leola Orr, Elizabeth Bronson, Helen Cate Houk; grandson, Cullen Lee Waddell III (Tray). Survived by twin sister, Leona Householder; sister, Faye Webster; brother-in-law, Murl Householder; son, Kirby Leon Cate and wife Winnie; daughters, Pamela Lorraine Cate, Kelly Charlene Cate Fears; son-in-law, Randy Fears; step-daughters, Debbie and Susie; step-son, Robbie; step-grandsons, Chris Starling, Robert and Jason Love; Special Niece and caregivers, Mickey Burnett, Sandra, Pat, and Julie; Special Nephew, Ricky; several nieces and nephews. Masonic service will be held 6:00pm Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home presented by Kodak Lodge #558 F&M. Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 11:15am. Thursday for a graveside service at 11:30 A.M. with Rev. Guy Milan officiating. Full military honors by East TN Veterans Honor Guard.
