CATE, HUGH R. - age 76, of South Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Baptist Hospital. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. Survived by loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Betty Cate; son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Marlene Cate of West Palm Beach, Florida; daughter, Carol Cate; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Teddy Poe; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Mary Ann Cate of Palm Bay, Florida half-brothers, Stuart Johnson of Murrieta, California, and Ray Cate of Oliver Springs; sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and Eddie Webster and Leona and Murl Householder ; half-sister, Hattie Norris, all of Knoxville; several nieces, nephews, and special friend, Mark Dills. Graveside service Friday, 11:00 a.m., Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Guy Milam officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
