HACKNEY , WANDA MARIE - age 53 of Maryvillle, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon May 22, 2002 at the family home surrounded by family & friends. She finally lost her battle with cancer. She was born in Maryville on December 8, 1948 to Harold & Edith Hackney and lived here most of her life, in Blount County. Preceded in death by father, Harold Hackney . Survivors: mother, Edith Hackney of Maryville; brothers, Larry Hackney , Brett Hackney both of Maryville, Jimmy Cabe of Ga., Howard Hackney of Gillette, Wyo. Also survived by her longtime boyfriend, Billy Whitehead of Maryville; and many friends and members of her extended family. Her kindness and innocence quickly endeared her to everyone that she met. It's that same kindness and innocence that will make this world a little sadder for her passing. Funeral service 8 p.m. Friday May 24, 2002 Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. M.D. Cabe officiating. Family & friends will meet at Morganton Cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday for the interment service. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
