William Paul Campbell, age 91, of Farragut went to be with the Lord on Thursday December 23, 2010 at the Ben Atchley State Veterans Home. Paul was a member of Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church and had served as Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Elder and Sunday School Superintendent. After graduation from Wheat TN High School, he was the first person from the Wheat community that was drafted by the U S Army. During World War II he served in the Ninth Armored Division. He participated in the invasion of France, went on through Belgium and Luxembourg and into the heart of Germany. Paul was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and received numerous Battle Stars, the Purple Heart and the Presidential Citation for his company. He was a member of the Purple Hearts Club. Paul served for many years on the Board of Directors for the Farm Bureau. He was a Docent with the Farragut Folk Life Musuem. He was a retired machinist from Union Carbide Y-12 plant. Paul was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Garner; parents, Jessie and Alice Jordan Campbell; sister, Ruth Campbell; brothers, Bob, Roy and Earl Campbell. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bonnie Moneymaker; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and David Garner of Farragut; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Sue Campbell of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Kim Garner House and husband, Jerry of Powell, Jennifer Garner Patterson and husband, Eric of Farragut, Kristi Campbell Clenney and husband, Chad of Lenoir City; great grandchildren, Tori and Campbell Patterson, Zachary, Cameron, Garrett and Elijah House; sister, Deaconess Gladys Campbell of Lake Junaluska, NC; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, December 26th at Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, followed by A Celebration of Life at 7 p.m. with Rev. Leonard Turner and Rev. Jon Henson officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. on Monday at Highland Memorial West Cemetery for graveside services with full military honors by the East Tenne ssee Veteran Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 400 Everett Road, Farragut, TN 37934.
